Stan VanDerBeek Archive

All editions of Movie Mural are comprised of six moving image programs, three timed 35mm slide programs and one digital slide program, and one overhead projection. Content loops simultaneously in a particular arrangement designated by the Archive. Content is based on VanDerBeek’s notes for his multimedia installations performed 1965-1968 and includes material representative of his varied approaches to film-making: collage films; computer films; newsreel and found film; dance and performance films; and multiple slideshows combining original and found still images. The fixed number of programs are comprised of material made 1957-1968.
